Your Account Has been Blocked! Your Photos and Videos will be Removed ΓÇö May 2026
Impersonates: Cloud Storage (generic ΓÇö no brand named)
Actual scam email — annotated specimen
7 Red Flags — Here's What Gives It Away
- 1. Sender domain is random gibberish (qrdcijaedp.mkmmb638l6.us) ΓÇö no legitimate cloud provider uses this.
- 2. Username used as greeting (allanw74) instead of your real name.
- 3. Vague 'Cloud' branding ΓÇö no service named (no Google, Apple, Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive).
- 4. Corrupt special character (┬╕) in the subject line ΓÇö sign of mass-mailing from bad templates.
- 5. 'Photos and Videos will be Removed' ΓÇö fear tactic designed to force urgent action.
- 6. Date embedded in subject line to make the threat feel time-critical.
- 7. Storage bar (0 GB / 48.9 GB of 50 GB) is a visual fake ΓÇö generated by a template.
If your actual cloud storage (Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox, OneDrive) has a payment or storage issue, the notification will come from the provider's own domain ΓÇö @google.com, @apple.com, @dropbox.com, @microsoft.com. Open the app or go directly to the website to check your storage. Never click a link in an email claiming your account is blocked or your files are about to be deleted.
A real cloud storage warning will always name the service clearly. 'Cloud' on its own is not a company ΓÇö it's a word. That alone tells you this email is fake. Most will give you 30/60/90 days to remove your files even if you haven't paid recently, there is never any urgency like these emails make out.
