Scamalot Advice
These text scammers spoof genuine Barclays numbers to lend false credibility — don't be fooled by a familiar-looking sender ID. If you're unsure, ring Barclays directly using the number on your card or statement, never any number in the message itself.
Anyone can claim to be from your bank, the police, HMRC, or any authority. Ask for their name and department, hang up, and call back on a number you found independently. Your bank or the police will never ask you to move money to a 'safe account' — that account belongs to the criminal.
What's happening
A dodgy text message sent from a spoofed number claims to be from Barclays.
