Scamalot Advice
Claims management firms are favourite costumes for these fraudsters — they know people often do have legitimate grievances. Never click a link claiming to calculate what you're owed; the only thing being calculated is how much of your data they can steal.
Don't tap links in unexpected texts. Scammers are particularly effective at making texts appear to come from real organisations, including your bank and HMRC. If the text claims to be from someone you deal with, go to their official website directly — type the address yourself, don't use the link.
What's happening
A scam text sent from a claims management firm tells you that you could be owed up to £2,487 in mis-sold car finance and provides a link to see how much you're owed.
