Dodgy car finance text
The crooks here are betting you'll be intrigued by the prospect of free money ΓÇö but legitimate compensation claims don't come looking for you via random text. If you genuinely believe you have a claim about car finance, contact your lender directly or speak to Citizens Advice, rather than following any link sent to your phone.
Don't tap links in unexpected texts. Scammers are particularly effective at making texts appear to come from real organisations, including your bank and HMRC. If the text claims to be from someone you deal with, go to their official website directly ΓÇö type the address yourself, don't use the link.
What's happening
A scam text sent from a claims management firm tells you that you could be owed up to £2,487 in mis-sold car finance and provides a link to see how much you're owed.
