IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED ΓÇô Security Breach Risk

Impersonates: Antivirus Plus (fictitious product)

Actual scam email — annotated specimen

7 Red Flags — Here's What Gives It Away

  1. 1. Sender domain is registertovotelondon.info ΓÇö nothing to do with antivirus software.
  2. 2. All-caps subject 'IMMEDIATE ACTION REQUIRED' ΓÇö maximum urgency signalling.
  3. 3. 'Antivirus Plus' is not a real product from any named company ΓÇö completely fabricated.
  4. 4. 'Protection is seconds away from shutting down' ΓÇö factually false. Antivirus software does not cut out the instant a payment fails.
  5. 5. 'Leaving your device exposed to viruses, ransomware, and identity theft' ΓÇö fear stacking.
  6. 6. Zero personalisation ΓÇö sent identically to thousands of addresses.
  7. 7. No account number, no subscription tier, no renewal date ΓÇö because there is no real account.
What to do if you get one of these

Real antivirus software does not shut down the moment a payment fails. It continues running normally and simply stops receiving signature updates after the grace period ΓÇö typically 30 days or more. You will not get a security breach from ignoring this email.

Legitimate antivirus companies (Norton, McAfee, Kaspersky, Bitdefender, Avast) send renewal notices from their own domains with weeks of notice. They name their product clearly.

'Antivirus Plus' does not exist. This email was written to sound like it could be your antivirus ΓÇö whatever you happen to have. If you're unsure whether your antivirus is active, open it directly from your taskbar or Start menu.
