Lottery scams are particularly brazen — you've never entered, so there's nothing to claim. Don't engage with any request for personal details or payment, no matter how convincing they sound.

If you're in any doubt about a caller's identity, hang up and call back on a number you find yourself — from the back of your bank card, a recent bill, or the official website. Genuine organisations will never object to this. Scammers will, and often become aggressive. Hang up anyway.
